Social Issues

I believe that we should have a free society. I also think that everyone should have equal opportunity to succeed in life and not be discriminated against because of their gender, race, sexual orientation, or religion. I am a feminist and a supporter of LGBTQ rights. We should do what we can to support women and girls' ability to advocate for themselves globally and for LGBTQ people to live healthy and happy lives.

Freedom of Expression

I believe in freedom of expression.

The freedom of expression is a human right that must be protected.

Systemic Racism

Racism is a major issue and it shows up in the way that laws are written and carried out. People of color receive different outcomes as a result of laws, administration, execution of law, and the outcome through judgement.

Some of the biggest examples of systemic racism in America come from the criminal justice system and the housing and lending system.

Platforming

I do not care about the platforming argument. Leave me alone.

Reparations

Reparations seem like a good idea. Cash investment and targeted investment to poor communities seem like a good start.

Reproductive Rights

Access to contraceptives, birth control, and abortion, are all medical needs for women. These are things that should be easily accessible to women

Immigration

Immigration is good for a country’s economy - it puts more money in our economy, more labor, and more demand for goods and services. It increases the supply and demand sides of our economy, increasing employment opportunities. Research also indicates immigrants are assimilating as well as or better than previous immigrant groups, even Mexicans.

What about crime? Findings show that illegal immigration is not correlated with violent crime rates, nor is it causal. Illegal immigrants are much less likely to be incarcerated than native-born Americans.

Sex Work

I think sex work, as it is practiced today, regardless of whether it’s legal or illegal, is largely forced or coerced. This idea that there is a clear line between consenting and non-consenting sex workers is a myth. That being said, I still think the best way forward for sex workers is to legalize sex work and regulate it, to raise the standards for a healthy and safe working environment.

Healthcare

There should, at the very least, be a public option available for citizens seeking healthcare.  If people have healthcare, they are more able to switch jobs and that would be a good thing. Employers would also face less costs, because healthcare is one of the most expensive costs that employers have.
